Getting started with Sketchpad and Google Classroom
A quick reference for teachers and students.
For teachers
- Open Sketchpad and click the Google Classroom toolbar button.
- Sign in with the Google account that owns your courses.
- Pick a course, fill in title, description, and optional point value.
- Optionally tick Attach the current sketch as instructions to share the drawing you have open.
- Press Create assignment. Sketchpad posts the new coursework to Classroom.
- Manage what you've created from My assignments.
For students
- From the Google Classroom assignment feed, click the Sketchpad assignment.
- Sign in to your Google account when prompted.
- Draw in Sketchpad.
- Click Submit in the export panel. Sketchpad uploads your drawing to your Drive, attaches it to your submission, and turns it in.
- You'll land back on the assignment page in Google Classroom.
Troubleshooting
- If the consent screen asks for a permission you don't recognize, see the per-scope handling notes.
- If submission fails, Sketchpad shows a fallback dialog so you can download the JPEG and attach it manually in Classroom.
- If you can't see your assignment in My assignments, make sure you're signed in with the Google account you used to create it.
